Jacob Kai Murphy (Wembley, 24 febbraio 1995) è un calciatore inglese, centrocampista o attaccante del Newcastle Utd.
Biografia
Ha un fratello gemello, Josh Murphy, a sua volta calciatore professionista[3].
Carriera
Club
Giovanili nel Norwich City e vari prestiti in League One
Cresciuto nelle giovanili del Norwich City, ha giocato per il club dal 2016 al 2017 dopo vari prestiti.
Newcastle United
Si trasferisce in seguito al Newcastle United per 11,3 milioni di euro. Il 20 gennaio 2018 segna il suo primo goal in Premier League nella sconfitta in trasferta per 3-1 contro il Manchester City.[4]
Prestito al West Bromwich e allo Sheffield Wednesday
Nel corso della stagione 2018/2019 viene prestato al West Bromwich in Championship,[5] dove totalizza 13 presenze con 2 goal ed un assist.
La stagione successiva 2019/2020 la trascorre con la maglia dello Sheffield Wednesday dove si mette in mostra con 9 goal e 6 assist in 39 presenze di Championship.[6]
Rientro al Newcastle
Dopo una lunga gavetta nella seconda e terza serie inglese, rientra stabilmente al Newcastle che milita in Premier League. Il 23 settembre 2020 mette a segno un goal ed un assist nel successo in trasferta per 0-7 contro il Morecambe in Efl Cup.[7] Il 25 ottobre successivo mette a segno un goal su calcio piazzato nel pareggio per 1-1 contro il Wolverhampton.[8] L'11 aprile 2021 torna al goal nella vittoria in trasferta per 1-2 contro il Burnley.[9]
Il 15 agosto 2021 segna nella gara d'esordio contro il West Ham, persa sul 2-4 finale.[10]
L'8 ottobre 2022 torna al goal nella vittoria per 5-1 contro il Brentford.[11] Il 23 aprile 2023 segna la sua prima doppietta in meno di 10 minuti, nella gara a senso unico vinta per 6-1 contro il Tottenham.[12] Il 27 aprile seguente segna nuovamente nel successo in trasferta per 1-4 contro l'Everton.[13]
Nel corso della stagione 2023/2024 mette a segno 3 goal e 8 assist in 21 presenze di Premier League.[14]
La sua miglior stagione arriva nel 2024/2025 dove realizza 8 goal e 12 assist in 35 presenze di Premier League,[15] tra cui due doppiette nella gara di andata e di ritorno contro il Leicester.[16][17]
