CoreMedia is a software company that develops digital experience and content management software. The company is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, and has offices in Porto, Portugal, and Arlington, Virginia. It was founded in 1996.[1][2]

CoreMedia Experience Platform is the company’s primary product.

Company overview

In 2012, CoreMedia introduced Elastic Social, an updated version of its social platform that added tools for social interaction, content moderation, user management, and a scalable NoSQL datastore.[3] Two years later, CoreMedia launched LiveContext for IBM WebSphere Commerce.[4]

In 2019, OpenGate Capital[5][6][7] acquired a majority stake in CoreMedia AG from Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners (DTCP) and private investors. The company was subsequently renamed CoreMedia GmbH.

In August 2023, CoreMedia announced the acquisition of two Porto-based software companies, BySide and Smarkio, for undisclosed amounts.[8]

In 2024, CoreMedia released version 12 of its platform.

Customers

The CoreMedia platform was used as the underlying technology for the German Government Site Builder.[9] The Government Site Builder (GSB) provides federal authorities in Germany with a unified content management system (CMS). The solution was implemented for the German federal administration.[10] Later versions of the Government Site Builder were migrated away from CoreMedia and transitioned to open-source software.
